Our client asked us to design the lobby, meeting rooms and sales offices for a building intended for storage of highly secure computer data. This 6,000 square foot interior serves nearly 50,000 square feet of warehouse space, and is the only part of the building open to non-technical staff and typically inhabited by people.

As the entire building is blast-proof, it includes such design anomalies as a double roof designed to fail at one layer only in case of an explosion. In the lobby, we were allowed to peel back the lower roof to reveal the upper one, and to expose the extraordinarily robust steel framing system. Stark white walls, black carpet, red steel and dramatic lighting create a bright, striking environment to make up for the lack of natural light and access to the exterior world.
